Can you know you have eternal life?
This book, the Gospel of John, says, "Yes!" The primary purpose of this book is to persuade those who have not yet believed to receive the free gift of eternal life God offers to all who will believe in His Son (John 20:31). In fact, Jesus Himself said it is His Father's will that all believers in Him would go to heaven: "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:40)

Can you also enjoy friendship with the Son of God?
Yes! Once you have received the free gift of eternal life Jesus invites you to abide or live in His love by keeping His commandments: "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love... You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." (John 15:10, 14)

If you have received eternal life by believing in Christ (John 6:47) and you desire this friendship Jesus offers, read chapters 13-17 carefully. As your love for Him draws you nearer to Him you will know the joy and the fruitfullness a close personal relationship with your Savior brings.
